College Onsite Day

    This is an exclusive event that is invitation only for students attending one of the participating high schools.

    College Onsite Day is an opportunity for high school seniors to pre-apply to multiple Michigan colleges and receive decisions on the day of the event. In the morning, the students will come to drop off materials to complete their applications of admission to the colleges of their choice. In the afternoon, students return to receive their decisions. All of the Michigan Public Universities will be participating in this event.

    • Students are encouraged to apply to no more than five schools, for this event.
    • Every student planning to participate in the event must RSVP.
    • Once you have RSVP'd for the event you will receive a confirmation email in which you will need to bring with you to the event. 
    A list of the participating universities can be found at this website below along with specific instructions on what each university requires to complete their application for this event.

    HOW TO APPLY

    Each institution has different application requirements. 

    Carefully review the requirements for each of the participating institutions before starting an application or attending College Onsite Day. Please bring enough, official or unofficial copies of your transcripts and test scores. There is no "copying" service available the day of the event.

    CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

    Application procedures for Onsite Day:

    • Complete undergraduate application. You can also find us on the Common Application.
    • Submit transcripts: unofficial or official high school transcripts will be accepted for admission consideration. Students must submit official, final high school transcripts when available. Transcripts can be sent via Parchment or emailed to apply@cmich.edu.
    • Test scores are optional. We recommend sending in all test scores to be considered for additional scholarship opportunities. Use CMU’s ACT code 1972 or SAT code 1106. Test scores will be accepted if provided with your official transcripts.
    • Application fees will be waived for Onsite Day participants. If you apply using CMU’s application, you can select the “I have been provided an application processing fee waiver code” and enter CMU4ME in the code box. If you apply using the Common Application, the fee waiver code is FireUp2024. Please note that CMU will not have an application fee for the entire month of October.

    • Students must apply prior to the event. You can submit our free internal application, emich.edu/selectscholars, or via the Common App. Our Common App fee waiver code CA24. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to the event. Your school counselor can send them via email visit.emu@emich.edu. Please include "Detroit Decision Day 2023" in the subject. You can also send transcripts via Parchment/Naviance. Students may apply with or without a test score. If you choose to submit a test score, SAT/ACT scores can be provided with your high school transcript or via College Board.

    • Step 1: Submit your online application for free. We are also on the Common Application.
    • Step 2: Submit official transcripts.  Transcripts can be mailed by your High School or sent electronically to admissions@lssu.edu.
    • Step 3: If you have college credit through transfer, dual enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate, CLEP, or early college programming, please submit an official transcript for each college or university you have attended.

    •  Submit undergraduate application for admission no later than October 16
    •  Application fees will be waived for applicants from participating schools starting October 1
    •  Use fee waiver code Spartan1855 to apply via MSU application, Common App, or through Coalition with Scoir 
    •  MSU is test optional, which means students have the opportunity to apply for admission without submitting the ACT or SAT
    •  Applicants who would like ACT or SAT scores considered in the review process can self-report scores on the application and submit official scores later

    • Complete application for admission through our website or Common App by Monday, October 16th; paper transcripts may be brought in sealed envelopes on the day of, or submitted via Parchment/Naviance by Friday, October 13th.
    • Test scores are not required for students with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or above.

    SAGINAW VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY

    Application procedures for Onsite Day:

    • Complete the free application for admission. You can also apply to SVSU using the Common App!
    • Send official transcripts electronically.
    • Students may submit a personal statement for additional consideration for admission.
    • Test scores are not required for admission or to receive merit scholarships, but students are encouraged to submit scores for future course placement opportunities. SVSU's SAT code is 1766 and our ACT code is 2057.
    • Students with less than a 2.75 GPA will be asked to submit two letters of recommendation and an admissions essay. The letters of recommendation should come from a high school administrator, counselor, teacher, principal, etc. who can speak to their ability to be successful in a university setting.
    • The admissions essay needs to be a minimum 1-page personal statement explaining any challenges experienced during their high school career; goals or ways in which they will ensure academic success for themselves moving forward at SVSU; and why they want to attend SVSU. These documents can be dropped off on the day Detroit College Onsite Day or sent directly to review@svsu.edu.

    • Secondary School Report and Teacher Recommendation
    • Test Flexible Option: All self-reported and/or official test scores must be received by Nov. 15 for Early Action consideration and by Feb. 1 for Regular Decision consideration. Students NOT submitting test scores will be reviewed as test flexible candidates if all other required application documents are submitted by the submission deadline. 
    • Application fees will be waived for Decision Day participants. Please select "other fee waiver request" and “DECDay24” to receive a fee waiver as you complete the application form.
