The Art Department Gallery (ADG), Wayne State University (WSU), Detroit, MI presents a call for entries for its annual Tri-County High School Exhibition. The exhibition dates are November 1 through November 22, 2024. The exhibition will feature approximately 80-100 artworks by high school students from Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.
ABOUT THE GALLERY
The Art Department Gallery hosts annual undergraduate exhibitions, graduate student exhibitions, faculty exhibitions and sabbatical exhibitions. Additionally, the gallery lends itself to provide exhibition space to community organizations with the approval of an exhibitions committee.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to all 10th through 12th grade-level public, private, and home-schooled students from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
ACCEPTED WORKS
Submissions will be juried and selected by a committee from the Department of Art, Art History, and Design. Selections will be based on quality, presentation, and proper application format.
Selected works can be hand delivered or shipped. Instructions will be included in a notification e-mail letter. The artist entrant will be responsible for transporting their work to and from the gallery. Every precaution will be taken to handle artwork with the utmost care. However, the Art Department Gallery and Wayne State University will not be responsible for damage or loss from any cause.
NOTIFICATION
Notification of accepted and non-accepted works will be sent via email.
AWARDS
Four awards will be given for outstanding artworks in the exhibition, along with one teacher award to recognize their instruction and dedication in the classroom.
First Place: WSU $2,000 Scholarship Award and $100 Blick Certificate
Second Place: WSU $1,500 Scholarship Award and $100 Blick Certificate
Third Place: WSU $1,000 Scholarship Award and $100 Blick Certificate
Alumni Selection Award: $1,500 Scholarship Award and $100 Blick Certificate
Teacher Award: $200 Blick Certificate
Scholarship Awards can be redeemed upon the application and acceptance to Wayne State University and declaration of major within the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art, Art History, and Design, WSU.
CONDITIONS
Students can submit a maximum of three artworks.

Artwork must be original. Copies of published photos are not acceptable. Artwork submitted for previous WSUTri-County High School Exhibitions will not be accepted.

Two-dimensional work should not be larger than 8 ft in any direction. Two-dimensional works do not need to be framed and/or matted, if accepted.

For digital works, please print and indicate printed scale on application. Digital works should be printed at 300 dpi and at least 8 x 10 inches.

Anything AI, digitally enhanced, must be specified within the artwork medium (how, what, and where the elements were used). It is the responsibility of the creator to verify the use of AI at any stage in the creation (initial, idea generation, drafting, and final form). This must be properly cited and disclosed. Include details on specific tools and version used (programming code, images, text, etc.)

Artwork solely generated by an AI program, such as DALL-E, Midjourney, or Jasper Art will not be accepted.

Sculptural and ceramic work must fit through a 6 by 8 ft door and weigh less than 70 pounds.

Video works are eligible. All accepted video works will be presented on flat screen monitors provided by the gallery. Selected videos must be on a USB thumb drive and have a pixel aspect ratio of 720 x 480 or higher. Multiple videos should placed on single video reel.
Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work, alter a work after submission, provide a “copy” or replication of the artwork, nor withdraw a work after it has been accepted/brought to the gallery. The Art Department Gallery reserves the right to refuse any entry, which does not match the images submitted or meet the criteria. The gallery reserves the right to refuse work that is not appropriate for the space.
